Cable theft disables City football

Johannesburg's Soccer CitySoccer city in Johannesburg has lost all power after cable theft.

The arena in South Africa that hosted the FIFA World Cup final 2010 can't stage a League game on Saturday because cable theft deprived land power.

The shock of PSL between Kaizer Chiefs Moroka Swallows strugglers and second place was postponed after theft unleashed a wave of energy.

"Theft of cables in the vicinity of the stadium caused an increase in power that has blown the reflectors and cut all the power in the stadium," said the spokesperson of the League Altaaf Kazi.

"There is no power for offices, changing rooms ... nothing," he added.

The departure scheduled for the largest sports stadium in the African continent has now been reorganized to take place on February 16.

Heads, which are the most popular Club in the country, recently changed its cavernous Stadium to the location that hosted the final of the year between Spain and the Netherlands.

Copper cable theft is common in South Africa, crime-ridden that affect electricity, telecommunications services and rail and the estimated annual cost to the industry is estimated at over one billion dollars.

Sitting outside Johannesburg, city of football held eight matches during the World Cup last year, including the opening match, quarter-final between Ghana and Uruguay, as well as the final.
